The Situation in 2003 – Where the Demand For the Forest Rights Act Sprang From

In 2003, a jan sunvai (public hearing) was held in Delhi which was attended by adivasi and forest dwellers’ organisations from across the country. The jan sunvai attempted to bring out the terrible situation that the country’s forest dwellers faced in the wake of hostile government action and eviction orders.
